This cinematographic adaptation of the religious videoludic franchise Silent Hill, that we owe our Frenchie Christophe Gans, is an oppressive and mysterious horror film that depicts an abandoned surreal city populated by horrible creatures and fanatical humans. The staging is very aesthetic, the performers are convincing (a special mention to the young Jodele Ferland), the scenario at once strange and intriguing is taking, the atmosphere (visual and auditory) supernatural, unhealthy and glaucous of the games is transcribed with meticulously, the settings that coexist in several levels of reality are striking of realism, the abominable bestiary is always a success (children who burn, deformed nurses, pyramid head, etc.) despite the SFXs today a little sighty and the score of Akira Yamaoka (the composer attired of the games) gives cold sweats. An undeniable success story, visual and sound that will satisfy the fans of the games but also the curious cinemaphiles.

In an abandoned mansion, a group of young people find a book that tells terrifying stories. But this finding is not without consequence: reading the book allows its terrible creatures to come to life... Despite a predictable path (which takes the form of an anthology) and friendly horrific events, Scary Stories remains a very honest movie d'afraid to the neat classic bill, the successful chimeral creatures, the engaging morbid atmosphere and friendly characters like everything. A good little surprise adapted from Alvin Schwartz's books.
