WORK – Supernatural love
For hundreds of years, unknown to humans, there has been a merciless fight between two immortal races: vampires against lycans. Selene, an intrepid vampire, is waging this millennial struggle without mercy for his enemies. But when Michael Corvin, a human, finds himself by chance at the heart of this clan war, the rules change...
This Romeo and Juliet fantastic to its own universe (a relevant rereading of mythology around vampires and werewolves) is populated by characters with the crazy class (the very attractive Kate Beckinsale), has a graphic identity marked and gives to spectacular action scenes (in a style largely inherited from Matrix). The saga Underworld, then promising, had just begun under the aegis of Len Wiseman !
IMAGE – Gothic is chic!
Practically identical to the disc released in 2016 if this is tiny chromatic corrections on a handful of planes, this generally satisfactory UHD HDR10 transfer (damage for the slight presence of d
The colorimetric palette limited by the stylistic choices of photography (a bluish atmosphere with a monochromatic trend signed by Tony Pierce-Roberts) gains expressiveness (stronger blues, bolder reds, more diverse greys, brighter gilding) and exalts the carnation (less pallor for free in blood suckers), the balance of contrasts has been improved for brighter whites and dense blacks not coming to sacrifice details in the shadows, and the light sources are displayed with more intensity (ultraviolet munitions, walls that ooze moisture, reflections on latex outfits and other metal objects).
SON – Hard rock bite
Engaged dynamics, dreadful precision, enveloping spatialization, virevolent effects (fires resonate in all directions), exposed atmospheres (rain, whispers in the halls of the manor), robust score of Paul Haslinger and memorable bass (even if unnecessarily heavy sometimes), for Dolby Atmos mixing intense and rich in height information (Lucian's attack on the roof of the car). Nevertheless, the medium being strangely removed, the strongest sound elements are far too piercing and therefore unpleasant to listen to.
Curiously downgraded to single Dolby Digital 5.1 (DTS-HD MA 5.1 on the previous 4K edition), the VF(Q) n
CONCLUSION – Shining and sharp canine hairs
Adding the long version to the UHD format, this new edition 4K Ultra HD broadly similar to that of 2016 (if not for Francophones) continues to eat the Blu-ray at breakfast (otherwise more biting A/V services)!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
