WORK – Vampires vs Werewolves part 2
For discovering the secret of his family's massacre, Selène, the fearsome vampire warrior, is more than ever alone and threatened. Her real enemies are not necessarily those she believed. Michael, who became the first hybrid both vampire and lycan, would like to join her, but he is unable to control the lycan part that rages in him. In order to discover the mystery of their origins, both will have to face the most powerful opponents...
Allowing itself to take full action, this mastered suite with a frantic rhythm is a playful show that integrates many new key characters into mythology. If he has lost in wealth, the scenario goes to the essential to offer us a dashing of spectacular sequences (between shootings and other chase races), the staging of Len Wiseman is well fluid and actors give of their person (magnetic Kate Beckinsale is always so sexy). The sequel all the fans were waiting for?
IMAGE – Ride in Eastern Europe
Unsurprisingly, this HDR10 UHD transfer brings a nice improvement over the previous Blu-ray and has excellent HEVC encoding.
Less present than on the first part and more uniform, the organic texture (a 35 mm capture) benefits from increased finesse, the increase in resolution shows finely firm details (faces, costumes, weapons and environments), and the improvement of contrasts brings clarity to the wide frame thanks to denser blacks (without the darkest corners being blocked) and much brighter whites (cremous in CSD).
The highly stylized photograph of Simon Duggan, little worn on the colors and bathing mostly in a variety of blues (even if it sometimes warms up), is more saturated while inoculating from the fergue to red and yellow hues, the carnation is more nuanced (a less systematic paleness) and the light sources strike the retina as never before (inner lighting, ultraviolet radiation of some munitions, reflections on metal surfaces).
SON – Gunfight, my love!
Filling the listening room with a wide variety of high effects (Marcus's aerial attacks, the wind blowing in the foliage of the trees, the debris falls, the main rotor of a helicopter and passing by), this Dolby Atmos soundtrack can boast of realistic spatialization (the surrounding atmospheres, the reverberation of the shots) and particularly muscular effects.
The dialogues remain clear despite the chaos surrounding, the dynamics know how to become authoritarian without using aggressiveness, the medium is well defined and the music of Marco Beltrami is as engaging as it is enveloping. A small disappointment, however, on the side of low frequencies, neither present nor as striking as expected.
More confused at the back and a little less enveloping, lack of verticality obliges (but that it is easy to recover by activating a DSP virtualization), the audio tracks encoded in DTS-HD MA 5.1 (VO and VFF) that turn out to be powerful deliver a little more striking bass.
CONCLUSION – It'll bleed!
With its revolver eyes and latex suit, Selene continues to draw all-va in this second 100% action certified opus where hemoglobin flows. A boon for the present 4K Ultra HD whose A/V features do not weaken in contact with sunlight!
