WORK – Hell is killing on Earth
Decided to end it once and for all with his addictions, Mia goes to a hut isolated in the woods, with her brother and a group of friends. On site, the discovery of a very old book will plunge them into horror...
This reboot approved by the original creators puts aside the humor of his model to plunge into pure horror through a flood of senseless gore scenes that go crescendo in cruelty and graphic outburst. The result is hyper-bloody, sometimes frightening and always disturbing, and evokes the genre cinema of the 1970s as The Hill has eyes or Massacre with chainsaw; especially as the special effects are realized with the old. A nugget both red as blood and black as the soul of demons!
IMAGE – The cabin in the woods
While the Blu-ray released by Metropolitan in December 2013 could already boast of faithfully reproducing the filthy aspect of photography (without resorting to any form of granularity) with a sumptuous definition, a sharp twist, bloody colors, high-level contrasts and abyssal blacks, the present UHD Dolby Vision transfer goes even further and thus poses itself as a real visual wonder.
The image is clearer (wooded textures such as the gore effects gain in clarity), the more macabre colorimetric palette (the shades that are generally more morose share the poster with more inflamed primaries), the more assertive contrasts (blacks more devour the places) and the brighter light sources (the ethereal glow of the sun through the trees and windows, the radiation of artificial lighting, the heat of flames).
- Eat it, bitch!
A nightmare soundtrack rich in screaming and other demonic whispers that delivers clear voices, noises « sharp » and/or little stew, immersive atmospheres, a deluge of surrounding effects and well-feeling infra-graves.
An acoustic delusion of every moment that should be « Owned » by a DSP virtualization... If only for the omnipresence of rain or the company of flies when discovering the corpses of cats hanged in the cellar.
CONCLUSION – Small butcher shop with friends
Well full-bodied and really decomplexed from the hemoglobin, this drug withdrawal far from being funny is more painful in 4K Ultra HD!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
