WORK – Texas SexShow Massacre
At the end of the 1970s, a film crew invested a house isolated from the bottom of Texas to make an X film. At nightfall, the owners of the premises surprise amateur filmmakers in full action. Filming is brutally turning into a nightmare.
Under the porn background of the 70s, this massacre without the chainsaw that honors the slasher of antan plays carefree erotic imaging to better slice with the morbidity of his last act (where the projections gores invite on the set). Transgressive, malignant (archetypes twist their necks) and stand at a distance from all forms of nostalgia, he uses sexual frustration as an engine of action and proposes to the captivating Mia Goth a double role (in a mirror) to better support his themes (the desire for fame, the relationship to sex, the reflection on beauty). IMAGE – Chair and Blood
Captured in digital 6K with the Venice of Sony mounted with Vantage MiniHawk lenses (for a 35 mm appearance) and Kowa zoom of the 1970s (for the shots of the film X to look like a 16 mm copy), these defocalized images (for a vintage blur) and sprinkled with a light grain (very homogeneous) in post-production seem to come out of a classic of the horror of the seventies.
Benefiting from a darker calibration than the much too bright Blu-ray, they benefit from refined details as far as possible (faces, bodies, clothes, decors), from a desaturated colorimetric palette (typical of the productions taking place in those years) with rich shades (red blood, green grass, sepia shooting), really more suitable contrasts (whites are no longer burned and the night scenes are now wrapped in dizzying blacks) and brighter lighting (make-up mirrors, flashlight).
SON – The bite of frustration
Batifolant cleverly with the dynamics (in fatal attacks) and manipulating an intelligently crafted soundscape, the VO Dolby Atmos surprises with its raw realism.
The voices are rendered with clarity (even when they come from behind), the music unfolds with great spatiality, the environmental sounds are well installed on the surrounds and the LFE channel hits strongly during the key passages (the buzzing of the engines, the detonation of a shotgun, the empalations). Almost unsolicited, the height scene only activates on two or three occasions to allow wildlife to be expressed.
CONCLUSION – The Farmers' Daughter
Before Pearl (the prequel shot at the end of the first film production) and MaXXXine (not yet shot), the saga X of the Ti West « Enter » the small world of the 4K Ultra HD with an edition that has all the assets (a 24-page mediabook, solid A/V features and relevant supplements) to become a star!

A film I highly recommend.
I kind of liked it too! As you mention, Celestial Wolf, I was impressed when I learned after seeing the movie that Mia Goth plays two roles. Otherwise I find the title of this article well found :-p
