WORK – journey to the end of hell

On the island of Tahiti, in French Polynesia, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Roller, representative of the French State, is a man of calculation in perfect ways. In official receptions such as interlopes, it constantly takes the pulse of a local population where anger can emerge at any time. All the more so as a rumour is made: one would have seen a submarine whose ghost presence would announce a resumption of French nuclear tests...

As he invisivizes his political intrigues and stakes in an inextricable mystery that never ceased to thicken in the middle of a lost paradise, this paranoid thriller to the Kafkaian depth and the languided narrative « spy », not without pessimism, a Benoît Magimel inhabited as the hypnotic camera ofAlbert Serra Don't let go. Of course demanding but quickly bewitching for who will accept to be carried, this impossible quest for truth bathing in a suffocating moisturizer revives the torments that float on the surface of our time.

IMAGE – Twilight on Paradise

Plastically sumptuous (best photograph for the Ops leader) Artur Tort to the 48th Caesar's Ceremony), this poisonous textured work baptizes with naturalism and artifice to better conceal the reality that will soon strike.

And if it happens to compression to awaken distrust (a little noise in the darkness and traces of solarization in the Paradise), the broad frame is submerged by the enjoument of the earth, the flaming of the skies and the glimmering of the sea (greens, roses and turquoise are munficent) that the definition, of an extraordinary authority (an incredible amount of detail), the contrasts, a timely firmness (rich black levels), and the lighting, of an unusual intensity (what would they have given in HDR ?), come sublime.

SON – Loss of illusions

Focusing on the game of actors, this soundtrack does not forget to bring relief to the atmospheres of French Polynesia.

The fauna and flora occupy all the enclosures, the atmospheric score knowingly harmful (composed by Marc Verdaguer) long-lasting envelope, bass become oppressive when narration demands and dialogues, often deaf, are dispensed with with much natural. And if they're not necessarily perceptible, say there's a reason.

CONCLUSION – Calm before the storm...

At the same time rare and deeper than it seems, this confusing experience of cinema with the power to evoke worthy of David Lynch, comes to alarm us on Blu-ray support (the technique is at the height of the emergency) ! As a bonus not to be missed, an exclusive interview with the director.

Pacification – Touring the islands

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
