Disney+ continue to surf on the TV success of George Lucas' cultural saga. After The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, here comes the return of one of the most iconic characters in the universe Star Wars, namely the well-named Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Whatever one thinks of the prelogy initiated by his creator, it is undeniable that the actor Ewan McGregor was born for the role of the master Jedi, formerly Padawan of Qui-Gong Jinn, became a teacher of the young Anakin Skywalker before he became Dark Vador (sorry for the spoil) and then forced to separate and hide the two children of him: Luke and Leia (still sorry for the spoil).
It is therefore with an unfeigned excitement that we find him in his own series of events when he's been an actor, and he's been an old. Tracked by a group of inquisitors, the one who is now called Ben receives the message of an old friend who is going to ask him out of his hiding place to perform a risky mission. If only two episodes are available for the moment (follow one episode per week), this is enough to gauge the future of the quality of the series. If the 1st is clearly influenced by the western and the chabara, the 2nd pours into the most exciting cyberpunk through the Jedi hunt in the city of Daiyu, a den of bounty hunters, who will be forced to resume his old knight reflexes. A few small surprises sparkle the plot, old acquaintances come to cuckoo but it is especially Ewan McGregor who takes the song. Broken by defeat against the Sith, Kenobi wanders like a soul in pain in a world he no longer recognizes. His performance outperforms all the rest of the casting (for now) and especially the young actress Vivian Lyra Blair, somewhat unbearable in MacGuffin on legs.
« The war is over. We lost. »
Obi-wan
Directed by Deborah Chow (already responsible for 2 episodes of the series)
), both parts are visually superb with iconic planes that would not have denied a passage on the large screen. If this legset proves as qualitative over time, no doubt the mini-series
will be the worthy continuation of prelogy, just as The MandalorianIt was with episodes IV, V and VI. Obi-Wan Kenobi May the strength be with them! The Mandalorian [...] the half chess of the Book of Boba Fett and of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Will Andor succeed in raising the level of the Star Wars series by having had the production [...]
