Teasé at the end of season 2 of Mandalorian, the most famous bounty hunter in the galaxy was going to have his own series on Disney+. It didn't take more to excite the whole universe fanbase Star Wars, all the more so as Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, instigators of the two seasons of Mandalarian, hat the writing of this spin-off.
White page syndrome
Alas, three times alas, the series (in 7 episodes) is far from keeping all its promises, the fault of a ultimately uninteresting scenario that has not much to tell and also to a certain Robert Rodriguez. Rodriguez, it's at best One night in hell, Sin City, Alita: Battle Angel, generous and sometimes brilliant B series. At worst, it's trilogy. Spy Kidsboth Machete or more recently We're heroes., cheap, ugly and badly fucked movies. And it is on this side that the series tends.
Mexican standoff
The three episodes that he is in charge of are easily identifiable as the mistakes of tastes follow each other: forgetable characters (Temuera Morrison clearly did not materialize or the charisma of a Pedro Pascal), random montage where the false connections succeed each other and do not talk (finally if let's talk about) about ridiculous scenes or spokeners. « Pimped » way Fast & Furious, or Yamakasis burst in time for a pursuit on Tatooine roofs and where gunfights to pistolasers are straight out of a sub Desperado !
A new hope?
And if Ludwig Goransson's music (Mandalorian, Black Panther, Tenet) is still as impressive, this is not enough to save from the mediocrity of the final episode (the Rancor...) despite the qualitative upsurge of episodes 5 and 6, directed respectively by Bryce Dallas Howard (yes, yes, the magnificent actress of The Young Girl of Water or Jurassic World, and incidentally the daughter of Ron Howard) and Dave Filoni, who saw several iconic characters come back from the universe created by George Lucas.

There is more to hope than the next season of Mandalorian and the next arrival of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi make us forget this deceptive parenthesis.
In spite of Rodriguez's bancally directed work on 3 episodes, I enjoyed this long-term visit to Tatooine (a few trips away) guided by a solid distribution! And if it is true that she lives in the shadow of The Mandalorian, this derived series that has the flavor of the westerns d-vantan is worth the detour (in the middle of sand dunes) for lovers of the saga Star Wars (if only for development around the Tuskens). 7/10
