WORK – Moon Objective
A mysterious force propelled the Moon out of orbit and rushed it to Earth. The impact will take place in a few weeks, involving the destruction of all life on our planet. A team of astronauts, made up of NASA's administrator, a former astronaut and a scientific genius, decides to go to the star...
Nostalgic of the 90s, this menu Maxi Best Of Roland Emmerich Self-cite (2012, Independence Day: Resurgence, etc.) is a totally decomplexed SF disaster entertainment where large special effects (sometimes well visible) and destruction scenes (on a very large scale) make it take off above the consistency and likelihood of a cliché scenario (including hollow characters) that simmers at the top of a morony. And while the actors seem skeptical, the director of Moon 44 put so much on the great show of an interstellar apocalypse that the burst is there.
IMAGE – Superstructure
Beautifully detailed (an 8K capture lined with a DI 4K) and alive (the greyish rendering of the Blu-ray remained at dockside), this UHD Dolby Vision transfer famous as it suits the tape-to-eye photography of Robby Baumgartner (already at work on Midway).
The definition is solid as a rock, the fine details are well enhanced (the facial features, the tangibility of accessories, the patterns of clothing, the desolation of the decorations), the colorimetric palette with brighter hues is won by a high-quality coldness, the otherwise higher contrasts enrich the blacks (for spatial sequences at increased depth) and clarify the whites, and the light sources show off with a new shine (the monitors, the luminescence of the Earth, the lunar rocks in fire, artificial lighting).
SON – A little closer to the stars 🎶
With ultra-generous spatialization and extreme-grave superpowerful, this Dolby Atmos soundtrack (represented in VO and VF) where the effects often fall from the sky will undoubtedly delight the fans of big sound.
The dynamics are literally thundering (and intensifying with the growing proximity of our satellite « natural » the various noises that are regularly swarming from all sides, the surrounding canals are engaged from the first to the last second, the height scene exults (spacecraft, the swarm of nanorobots, debris falls and/or other objects, the overflight of helicopters, the resonances in the military bunker and the pass), the LFE channel rumbles without restraint (earthquakes, explosions), the resounding partition ofHarald Kloser The dialogues (French dubbing is flat) remain clear despite the surrounding devastation.
CONCLUSION – Immediate take-off
Conne like the moon (it was easy I must admit) but saved from the crash by the cataclysmic bust of its (spatial or not) adventures, this production « chaotic » by the director having opened the door of the stars in Stargate successfully landing on the brand new runway (a Dolby Vision encoding and Dolby Atmos for all) of this 4K Ultra HD!
