WORK – Space pilots
In 2038, while the Earth's natural resources are almost exhausted, a special agent is sent to a distant planet by a mining company to expose a traitor who threatens to paralyze its facilities...
Strongly influenced by Aliens and Outland, this series B of technically controlled and aesthetically worked science fiction does not lack ambition or ideas despite its meagre budget. Certainly predictable and full of clichés, this low-front show opened (rightly) the Hollywood doors to Roland Emmerich.
IMAGE – Like an air of LV-426
Somewhat limited by its source material and the peaty ambience (or even foggy in places) of the photograph, the image resulting from an anamorphic capture 35 mm is generally well returned by this HD transfer.
For if the definition as the piqué remains fluctuating, stability and cleanliness are to be put, the silver grain is in place, the colorimetric palette (often bluish) expresses itself fully and the contrasts, well balanced, let the blacks breathe and shine whites (cf. neons).
SOUND – Strong in the face
Equipped with a nice sound scene, the VO encoded in 2.0 Surround is quite inside and delivers many side effects. The dialogues are clear, the music is transcribed and finally, there are only the basses who do not rumble enough.
Introducing a light breath, the VF (with distinct voices) is mostly more flat than its consoeur.
CONCLUSION – Galactic Mining Corporation hires!
This superb Blu-ray edition (a digipack collector that has its effect) with very correct A/V performances and totally new bonuses (including several exclusive interviews) only gives rise to a desire to... Engage to (re)discover this SF film that revealed Roland Emmerich!
