Peter Quill is an adventurer hunted by all bounty hunters for stealing a mysterious globe coveted by the powerful Ronan, whose actions threaten the entire universe. Fun and very entertaining, this crazy and nostalgic space opera of the pop culture of the 80s is a high-end intergalactic journey to the enticing wild characters (the « raccoon » Rocket Raccoon), with a vast out-of-date universe, totally uncomplexed caustic humour, ubiquitous situations, action scenes « bigger than life », with brilliant special effects and pop soundtrack 70s just too cool.
IMAGE – Invisible, really?
With its pique forcing respect, its intense colors and its splendid contrasts, the HD transfer was a wonder. Less demonstrative in comparison with the format they accompany, the images of this 4K Ultra HD still remain no less superb... even though darker appearances (especially scenes plunged into darkness).
Richer and deeper, they benefit from a more precise definition (the background decorations), clearer textures (the Drax tattoos), a denser colorimetric palette (the red eyes of Star-Lord's helmet, Gamora's green skin, and the « breastplate » Nebula blue), reinforced contrasts and light sources (light beams, blasters, explosions, stars, artificial lighting) more electric... although barely more energetic.
SON – Awesome Mix!
This mix with super-mastered sound design is balanced, immersive (large surrounds), populated by effects that displace and rhythmic by excellent tubes.
But if the high channels allocated to the VO bring a far from negligible development (spaceships) vis-à-vis the soundtrack of the previous Blu-ray, the lower dynamics and the temperate bass disappoint.
More tightened and not much more powerful (than the VO), the VF today offered in Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 gets crushed by the soundtrack DTS-HD HRA 5.1 that can be found on the French Blu-ray.
CONCLUSION – Groot this!
If she gets out pretty well on Ultra HD Blu-ray support, even if her HD counterpart continues to touch the stars, this intergalactic sweets had the opportunity to be even more tasty!
