WORK – No, but say, is it good or not?
Recruited by Gandalf the Grey, Bilbon Sacquet joins a band of 13 dwarfs whose leader is none other than the legendary warrior Thorin Écu-de-Chêne who seeks to take over the lost Kingdom of D'Erebor Dwarfs, conquered by the fearsome dragon Smaug. Their journey leads them to the heart of the Wild Country, where they will have to face Gobelins, Orcs, Murderous Whargues, Giant Spiders, Metamorphs and Wizards...
An Unexpected Trip
This magnifying adaptation Bilbo the Hobbit, Tolkien's children's tale, is a coherent and lighter return to Middle Earth almost 60 years before the epic of the Lord of the Rings which is full of fantastic (well-developed) characters, fabulous creatures, vertiginous scenery, homicidal scenes and stunning visual effects, and which is carried by Peter Jackson's even more mastered staging, by the interpretation of community members and by Howard Shore's symphonic score. This first part of a new trilogy will not displace the fans of the first hour and will delight to no doubt the followers of the genre. Really the suites!
Smaught Desolation
More dense, less childish, better rhythmic and even more generous in anthological sequences (the attack in the forest of Mirkwood, the confrontation in the city of Erebor and especially the hallucinating leak in barrels), in fantastic creatures (the bear-man Beorn, the dragon Smaug), in grandiose decorations (Esgaroth), in spectacular visual effects and in vertiginous camera movements (especially during Bombur's act of bravery), this epic sequel to the new trilogy inspired by Tolkien's work, manages once again to adapt Bilbo the Hobbit While adding elements (such as the Elves Legolas and Tauriel) that greatly enrich the story. Rendez-vous is taken to know the end of the trip!
The Battle of the Five Armies
This final chapter concludes in apotheosis the trilogy of the Hobbit, is an intense episode sipmed with Dantec emotions and action scenes where the Dwarfs, Elves, Men and Orcs are waging a titanic battle underlined by a sublime staging, special high-fly effects and pieces of bravery to the certain epic grandeur. A great epilogue!
IMAGE – Everyone's beautiful, are you sure?
Scattered until it looks like a video game, the image disappoints somewhat!
Because if the HDR and the colors massively reinforce the fairytale of the work (increased luminosity, modernized colors, magical lighting as possible and reinforced contrasts), the drastic accentuation of the contours (too hard textures, frequent detours of the vertiginous background decorations and presence of DNR) as well as the application of the latter (do the more ardent flames of the Smaug dragon cause the melting of part of the snow?) remove this remasterization 4K from the goldsmith accuracy of its HD counterpart.
SON – He who has ears to hear, hear!
Dynamic and immersive (spaceization is formidable), the soundtrack Dolby Atmos really does justice to the inventiveness of mixing.
The voices are of great clarity, the deep natural atmospheres, the ubiquitous surround effects, the memorable aerial scene, the symphonic score of Howard Shore aired with great care and the devastating bass. It sends heavy...
Even the VF, robust and animated despite less acoustic weight.
CONCLUSION – Every good thing has an end...
If it is not always up to the travel, the present Ultra HD Blu-ray is still the best version to discover or rediscover this magical and homelike adaptation of Bilbo the Hobbit.
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
