WORK - Jason's Teeth, Part 2

In the inside of the pit, while an illegal mining operation turns into a disaster, a team of researchers is confronted with huge megalodons and ruthless bandits.

If she escapes from the shipwreck by little thanks to her climax over the top Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus) on the island of fun, this suite even more WTF still remains a false advertisement (megalodons being more present at the promo than in the film) put in box by an AI passing for Ben Wheatley. Shit (since emotion has been drowned for a long time) and barred with visual weakness, this Die Hard water which only leaves too late the head of the water is a huge disappointment. So no, hunger doesn't justify the means!

« - This is the biggest Meg I've ever seen. - The biggest Meg anyone's ever seen. »

- The septic tank.

A beautiful digital capture (up to 6K) with a palpable film aspect (which is explained by the use of anamorphic optics) out of granularity (since clean as possible), this UHD Dolby Vision transfer with resistant encoding (an average bitrate of 57 Mbps leaving only two planes with color banding) approaches even closer to the monstrous scales of the Miocene than its counterpart 1080p.

The definition is just unattainable with a significant excess of sharpness (cf. the clarity of the backgrounds at Mana One and on the island paradise) and the shearing of an unrelenting rigor leaves the slightest detail with an increased finesse (the scars of « Dad Meg », the scaly texture of large prehistoric lizards).

The colours that are perfectly saturated greatly benefit from the WCG for red oranges (lighting in abyss), blues (the sky and ocean) and greens (vegetation and lagoon). As for the contrasts, darker than in the first opus in view of the environments visited (nearly 70% below water), they gain in boldness. The blacks are splendid (a more precise darkness), the dazzling whites (the clouds being better capped) and the light sources enhanced (submarine projectors, daylight, control monitors). Average Peak Nits was measured at 184 cd/m2 and MaxCCL at 499 nits.

SOUND - Small fish in water 🎶

If they need to push the potard well beyond the reference level to fully express themselves, these two Dolby Atmos tracks at 16-bit (a 3346 kbps VO and a 3319 kbps VF) should satisfy the action fans (this big anything by being barred).

Powerful and well distributed, they diffuse a lot of effects and/or atmospheres at 360° (the surrounding activity is regularly insane) to immerse us in the heart of the « disaster ». In the depths, immersion is total by underwater pressure. It is also where the verticality of the mixing is most noticeable (the crossing of the thermocline, the rock landslides). On earth, it is machine guns and gourmands that delight.

The LFE channel supports all but without efficiency (fires, explosions and megalodon attacks on infrastructure), music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams It is marked by its scale and the dialogues are strongly exuded by the power plant. In VF, dubbing does not interfere with the original mixing.

CONCLUSION - Harp bite

If it is easy to drink the cup in front of this Asylum with teeth blunted at $185 million, this auction far away from the banks of creation of Spielberg Nevertheless manages to devour the screen on 4k Ultra HD support (carnasse A/V services)!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
