And even if predictable and watered with familiar adventures, its impressive range of actors (the lateRay Liotta, Lance Henriksen, Kevin Dillon, Stuart Wilson, Ernie Hudson), its particularly effective action scenes and its square staging, due to the honest craftsmanMartin Campbell (GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Casino Royale, The Protectedthe recentMurderful memory), allow him to age rather well.

From an aging DI 2K, this organic UHD Dolby Vision transfer (a 35 mm capture) that cannot devastate some dirt (including white dots) shows a darker and nuanced image than his colleague 1080p.
Chasing posterization (present on the Blu-ray) and offering greater clarity, it delivers an increased level of detail (injuries, tissues, decors), more homogeneous granularity, more saturated natural colours (greener plants, more turquoise sea and orange flames) to purified carnation (much less yellow), more seasoned contrasts and light sources, weakened by nature, more concrete (such as prison lighting and daylight). Still, is there any tripotelage in the air...
In fact, the sharpness is sometimes artificial and it is quite obvious that a cleaning was carried out before the rest of an indisputable layer of grain (but exactly what dose?).
SON – Escape, escape, escape 🎶
Exclusive to the publisher since ordered by him from two providers, the 3D soundtracks will blow hot and cold depending on your selection (or equipment) even if the audibility of the dialogues, the good spatialization of the jungle and the balance of the score will persist from one to the other.
The Dolby Atmos soundtrack, with deep bass (but intrusive in places), nevertheless suffers from sea-side whistles, dephases from there and the absence of certain height effects (the rotor of helicopters).
Anaemic (but where have gone serious and dynamic?) and recorded at an abnormally low level, the Auro-3D 13.1 mixing better controls verticality (the director's hologram, rain, echo of the voices and sound elements of the first battle hear more here) and does not accept whistles or dephasages.
CONCLUSION – Escape or death?
Unjustly passed under the radar, this insular pendant to the series B of anticipationFortress(1992) can escape oblivion thanks to the help of a 4K Ultra HD (mediabook editions are exhausted) from time to time clumsy but barouder!
