WORK - The beginnings of cocoa maestro
While he dreams of opening a shop in a city renowned for his chocolate, young and poor Willy Wonka discovers that the industry is run by a cartel of greedy chocolate makers.
Driven by songs with delicious disuse, this gloomy musical Timothy Chalamet does the show in the costume of the famous eccentric chocolatier (created by Roald Dahl in 1964 Charlie and Chocolate) overflows with magic and chocolate creations. In line with both Paddingtonof the same Paul King, this colourful sweetness with exquisite characters and fancy decors is savored like a tale for young and old, whose almost childish innocence gives her a crazy charm. Fully edible, this UHD Dolby Vision transfer with extremely favorable encoding (an average bitrate of 78.8 Mbit/s) delivers visually dazzling images... For day and night, the beautiful photograph of Chung Chung-hoon (Old Boy, Last Night in Soho) lends it wonderfully.
The improved resolution jumps to the eye as much the intimate details (facial hairiness, weaving of clothes) appear with a completely different precision and both the depth of the frame (the corridors of the laundry, the streets of the city) gain in relief, the terribly catchy colors show no bolder primaries (the rainbow piping of the future chocolate factory) better reproduced in the darkness (the zoo balloons), the glow of light sources is intensified in the highly illuminated environments (Wonka's shop) as well as in the dark places (the rooms of the « Employees »), and blacks have an abyssal depth that does not compromise the fidelity of shadows (not overturning in short). On the measure side, the average luminance is 106 cd/m2 and the brightness peaks are 446 nits.

In VO as in VF (where it is Robin Morgenthaler This soundtrack Dolby Atmos subtly mixed (all channels enjoy the party without excess) and in no way aggressive delivers the merchandise.
Incredibly dynamic and wildly immersive during (many) sung passages created by Neil Hannon, it returns to calm when it speaks without neglecting spatialisation (cf. ambient noises). The verticality is fantastic (the noises of a toilet, the presence of a giraffe, the flight of pink flamingos, the resonance of the monks' singing in the parish), the perfectly intelligible dialogues, the richly detailed sound clarity and the LFE channel, even if generally discreet, imposing when necessary. As regards the instrumental compositions of Joby Talbot, they indulge themselves not without velvety with a remarkable presence.
CONCLUSION - Chocolate is life!
Gourmet and well packed, this musical where the young Willy Wonka Folded with dreams full the top of the form sees its old charm tenfold on 4K Ultra HD support (from A/V services to the well mounted ganache). Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to fall on.
