WORK – When the dream becomes a nightmare
The story of a young woman passionate about fashion and design who mysteriously manages to return in the 1960s where she meets her idol, a dazzling young rising star. But the London of the 1960s is not what it seems, and time seems to be disaggregating with dark repercussions.
A vintage horrific tale (the ghost of London's 60s) with hypnotic beauty where the dream gradually turns into an awakened nightmare when it summons the giallo d The staging sucks the sophistication, the furiously delusional retro atmosphere of the beginnings gives way to disenchantment (when blind nostalgia is messed up), the performance of the two young actresses (in mode « mirror ») is welcome and the protein-forming scenario, more complex than it seems, is bleak. Behind the fantasy, the darkness of crushed dreams!
IMAGE – The past lets you in
Captured in Super 35 and digital to mark a difference between the past (the flamboyant visual style of the 60s with filters « giallesques ») and present (the banality of the modern world with cold hues), the remarkable photograph by Chung Chung-hoon, while playing light and mirror effects, unfolds aesthetic treasures that this UHD Dolby Vision transfer reinforces.
Magnificently chiseled (images gain a little in precision) and naturally textured (a perfect management of the silver grain), it meticulously enriches the colors (primitives boosted Technicolor way), carefully strengthens the contrasts (the hold of the blacks and the clarity of the whites have been strengthened) and seriously hardens the light sources (the lights to the neon that illuminate Soho are more burning than ever).
SON – The Truth Resurfaces
First monophonic until the entry into the world of dreams where mixing suddenly starts to fill each speaker, this 3D soundtrack « measured » was specially worked to follow the story and develop with him.
The sound placements are very precise (the agitation of nightlife), the dynamic intensifyes if necessary, the atmospheres are refined, the activity surrounds and/or aerial is illustrated during the key moments, the dialogues steal the star and the music, powerfully magnetic, has striking clarity and acoustic intensity.
Mined by a really not terrible dubbing, the VF encoded in Dolby Digital More 7.1 nevertheless retains the sensations of his conœur to a few details.
CONCLUSION – The cure for nostalgia?
To better understand the resurrected visions of the past, the present 4K Ultra HD does not hide the distorted fantasy of a past era!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia

[...] The motivations of the character remain cryptic, while Amleth could accomplish his destiny many times. The other protagonists almost act as PNJ. Rare are dialogues with other slaves, mutic and too often « oblivionesques » with the exception of Olga with whom Amleth will have a more intimate relationship. Most of the time, the hero solocates on the Viking culture that would legitimize his quest for revenge. No real contradictor until the evolution of Olga (Anya Taylor Joy) in the last third of the film. There was probably to dig on the side of this female character who had already played in The Witch of the same director or more recently in the very friendly Last Night in Soho. [...]
