WORK – Some secrets can kill...

On the night of the national holiday, four friends' car hit a man on the road. Faced with the fear of their future compromised by this tragedy, they decide to make the body disappear and swear not to tell anyone ever. But the following summer, everyone is confronted with terrifying events...

Very freely adapted from the novel Like a bad dream and well anchored in his era, this post-slasher neo-Scream the meta side of the latter to the advantage of a first degree which suits him rather well. And if the chills are shy, the mystery as nebulous as it is credible, the murders just bloody and the killer little present, it works like a good teenage drama where young people are haunted by the accident they caused. The reflection on the transition to adulthood is subtle and the characters, even though cartoons, enjoy a psychological depth swept away by competition. Without being a classic of the genre, Remember... last summer poses as an effective work.

IMAGE – A wax to kill them all!

Operated in 4K from the scan of the original 35 mm negatives, this remasterization « roll over » The image of the previous Blu-ray, which was coarse (the pique), bland (the colors) and creamy (the whites).

This UHD Dolby Vision transfer, which is particularly healthy (neither DNR nor EE), features a sharper definition (the sharpness of the places visited), more intimate details (face features, clothes), a brighter colorimetric palette at the most vibrant primary (blue sky, red balloons) and more natural carnation, contrasts extended to reinforced blacks (the shadows are better defined) and pure whites (the dresses and other decorations during the parade), and widely exalted light sources (reflections on water, artificial lighting during the beauty contest, Max's car headlights).

SON – The pact of silence

More terrifying than the film itself, the Dolby Atmos blend reserved for the VO is as bold as possible.

There is no lack of momentum, immersion is constant with an active surround scene (suspicious noises emanating from the rear of Julie's vehicle, the audience during the parade) and a parsimonic verticality (gulls above the docks), sharp effects related to « The Hook » and the environmental atmospheres (wind, waves) are delivered realistically, the music takes advantage of a new dimension, the voices are of great clarity and the LFE channel supports everything with great depth.

Even if less open to the front and more shaky in atmospheres, the sound tracks (VO and VF) encoded in DTS-HD MA 5.1 remain immersive and striking.

CONCLUSION – Entry into adulthood

For his 25th birthday, Remember... last summer has been particularly well prepared (very careful A/V services). It is therefore easier today to ignore its opportunism to focus on the human drama that is really being discussed.

Remember... last summer

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
