WORK – Jazz with soul!
Passionate about jazz and music teacher at a college, Joe Gardner has finally the opportunity to realize his dream: to play in the best jazz club in New York. But an unfortunate false not rushes him into the « Great Forward » – a fantastic place where new souls acquire their personality, character and specificity before being sent to Earth. Well determined to return to his life, Joe teamed up with 22, a mischievous and spiritful soul, who never realized the interest of living a human life. By desperately trying to show 22 how wonderful existence is, Joe might well discover the answers to the most important questions about the meaning of life.
By exploring the « meaning of life », this feeling-good movie animated deeply touching and regularly twisting tutoi the stars. Full of poetry, visually miraculous and accessible to all ages (even if it's Pixar's most mature work), this initiatory adventure that invites you to enjoy every moment of emotion as it surprises. A wonder!

Absolutely stunning, this HDR10 UHD transfer touches perfection!
Drawn from a DI 4K, the image is ultra-cut, beautifully coloured and brightly lit. Everything is even more visible than in HD, from the fur of the cat to the posters on the walls through the texture of the clothes, and the combo WCG/HDR gives peps to the light sources (the sun, the felted atmosphere of the jazz bar, the milky way of the « Great After »), from sumptuousness to contrasts (blacks are deeper and whites are much brighter) and from richness to colorimetric space (cf. the ethereal roses and blues of the astral plane).
SON – A score without a false note?
Far from the Dolby slopes « Atmouse » made in Disney, this 3D soundtrack that generously uses all the channels at its disposal proves to be a tremendously enveloping acoustic experience where the height scene is an integral part of the journey (the souls drawn by the « Great After », the leaves in the wind, the echoes in the streets of New York and by the way).
Ample, precise and natural, it diffuses clear dialogues, striking effects sent forward and back (as when 22 « between » in the outside world) and gliding atmospheres... Like his free and inventive music, which never stopped carrying us « elsewhere » Hey! And even though it is still necessary (a little) to push the potash beyond the reference volume, the dynamics are not shy and the basses are superbly tight.
Less and more « land to land », the VFQ remains very convincing... The more careful the dubbing is than that of the VFF (not present on the disc).
CONCLUSION – Find your own « flame »...
What is a successful life? To know this, the vision of this metaphysical odyssey is necessary. But be careful, in 4K Ultra HD to make your passion for HC vibrate more strongly!
