WORK - Likely to live

In 1969 in Maine, when he dreamed of leaving behind his hometown of Ludlow, the young Jud Crandall discovered sinister secrets and was forced to face a dark family history that would keep him forever linked to the city.

Returning from the dead, Simetierre adapted from the eponymous novel Stephen King is paid an unfortunate prequel without matter (transparent people, non-existent issues) nor envy (for fear, we will have to iron out) where have been lost (unlike inconsistencies and other screenplay facilities) the too rare and talented David Duchovny and Pam Grier. Still a good design production and some tripe. But here, without respect for the basic material, the visceral ogre family 1982 must turn to his grave.

« Trust me on my word. Sometimes death is better. »

IMAGE - Six feet underground

This UHD Dolby Vision transfer, derived from a digital capture to the sharpness and cleanliness of every moment, depicts divinely well (despite the absence of a granularity that would have made sense) the late 1960s photograph with its omnipresent brown hues. In the absence of a Blu-ray (a 4K edition only), no comparison could be made between the two formats.

The clarity of the frame is fantastic (the backgrounds have nothing to hide), the complexity of the fine details is no doubt as to the 4K nature of the DI (face features, textile fibres, interior arrangements, gore projections) and the compression suffers from no visible anomalies.

The colorimetric palette with natural calibration delivers rich shades (greenness, blue sky, yellow-flowered sunflowers) and deep (colors of clothing, scarlet red), contrasts skilfully reproduce the sombritude of the places by wonderfully dense blacks (necessarily shaping the shadows) and light sources, even if not intense (light of the day included), illustrate by the controlled accuracy of their brightness (the chandeliers in the church, the flame of the lighter in tunnels).

- We'll meet again. 🎶

Rhythmed by worrying and very expressive music of Brandon Roberts (Chaos Walking), significantly engaged on all channels, this Dolby Atmos mix with wide acoustic opening is otherwise more efficient than the work it sounds.

Immersion operates all along with a strong multi-channel presence of the urban atmospheres (road traffic) and the countryside (wildlife and flora), verticality reinforces the auditory realism of many sequences (light breeze, rustling of leaves, crumbling of trunks, noise from birds, deaf noise from the floor), the hammering of a drum as well as the shooting of massive basses and the dialogues, frankly idiots, are firmly exuded by the power station.

CONCLUSION - More dead than alive

A rare indigence and unable to create any tension, this new iteration already dead and buried from the saga Simetierre Only for his technique. And this « grave » Well, since the present 4K Ultra HD delivers A/V benefits in full shape!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
