WORK – God, are you there?

When Elizabeth Shaw discovers a mysterious connection between several artifacts during her research, she is convinced that it is a clue to the origin of humanity on Earth. A team of scientists supervised by Meredith Vickers and the Android David then embarks on a fascinating space trip to the edge of the universe, towards an unknown world. There, a terrifying confrontation that will decide the future of humanity awaits them...

Visually incredible (artistic direction touches perfection) and narratively mysterious (the search for our origins), this very good horrific science fiction film that undeniably carries the DNA of the saga Alien (the universe is the same and the foot of H.R. Giger well present), returns to the origins of the myth (without revealing everything) while being the first fruits of a new and willingly perverse legend.

IMAGE – The map of the Universe

In HD, the digital image captured using the Red Epic (5K) was majestic. It delivered a magnificent definition, a precise piqué, a sumptuous colorimetric palette, formidable contrasts and perfectly nuanced blacks. So we were in the presence of a pure visual slam.

In UHD HDR10, despite a few lower planes that leave a slight tingling (more precisely in the huge artificial dome), its attributes are improved with an evident gain in resolution (panoramic views), additional details (space combinations, rocky landscapes, sweating on faces), extended colors (they gain in heat), even more striking contrasts, slightly deeper blacks (while keeping the legibility of shadow-loaded backgrounds) and much more impressive light sources (the stars, interior lighting of the spaceship, neons in helmets, console of engineers, map of planets).

SON – A new cry in space

As powerful (the take-off/landings of the ships make the caisson spin) as subtle (the clarity of the dialogues and the richness of the atmospheric atmospheres), this VO proposed in DTS-HD MA 7.1 is controlled (even if it is true that this mixing would have deserved a 3D soundtrack) and continues to guarantee the spectacle thanks to swirling spatialization, enveloping surround channels and striking bass. A fantastic soundtrack.

Despite a narrower acoustic scene and a less extensive dynamic range, the VF is also worthy of praise.

CONCLUSION – Lost Alien ?

Prequel hybrid to the Xenomorph saga, this work by SF Seminal finds in this 4K Ultra HD a superb specimen to give life to its twilight beauty!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
