WORK – Sleeping Beauty

While 5,000 sleepy passengers for a long time travel in space to a new planet, two of them are accidentally drawn from their artificial sleep 90 years too early. Jim and Aurora must now accept the idea of passing the rest of their existence aboard the spacecraft. As they gradually experience an undeniable attraction, they discover that the ship is in serious danger. The lives of thousands of sleeping passengers are in their hands...

This meeting between Titanic and Gravity is a minimalist space romance as captivating as well as neat where the complicity of the star couple, the dramatic power of the concept, the beauty of cold spaces and enchanting music take us far away.

IMAGE – On board Starship Avalon

Whether in HD or UHD, the clean and luminous image of the work is just sublime. The clarity is dazzling, the stunning definition, the striking details (even if it is missing in 1080p on the background of the decorations, Jim's hairiness or the skin texture of Aurora), the extraordinary colorimetric palette and the contrasts to the taquet.

On the WCG side, the colors that are somewhat warmed up (the sequences in the bar) are richer (blue and mordored tones) and saturated (the dark red hues), where the HDR contribution is visible with much more petant whites, multiply stars because much more sparkling, more energetic lighting (neon, holograms) and blacks at increased depth.

SON – In space, no one wants you to love

An exemplary Dolby Atmos mix (but unfortunately reserved for the VO) that ensures the acoustic performance with goldsmith precision and Herculean power.

The dialogues are clear, the spatialization is ultra-enveloping, the front scene is extremely dynamic, the effects (the barman's movements, the impacts of the asteroids) and atmospheres (the ship's noises, the mood music, the pressure under the water) are very close, the rear scene gives all that it has, the score is just as fair as it is wide, and the bass are busy shaking the sound space (the thrust of the reactor) with what is needed of weight and impact. As far as the height channels are concerned, they are solicited as soon as the narrative requires (breathing of the characters in their combination, waterfalls, alarms, escape of flames, etc.), i.e. quite often.

While the VF SD remains more than probative (DTS-HD MA 5.1 on Blu-ray), they nevertheless suffer from comparison (if only at the level of the density of the surrounds) with its 3D cosœur.

CONCLUSION – What's important is the trip!

A ship, two people and 90 years in front of them... Sentenced to live and die on a space ship in perpetual transit, our two space travellers prefer to líidyl solitude, whose cosmic radiation is extremely high in 4K Ultra HD!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
