At the beginning of the twentieth century, oil brought fortune to the Osage people, who, overnight, became one of the richest in the world. The wealth of these Amerindians immediately attracted the lust of unrecommended whites who intrigued, supported and stole as much money Osage as possible before resorting to murder...
Adapted from a novel « True Crime » of the David Grann, this icy criminal fresco brilliantly orchestrated by Martin Scorsese explores the guilt of white America by going back to the genocidal racism of pioneers who, coveting the wealth of the Osages, systematically murdered them. From the great cinema viscerally tragic where Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone and Robert De Niro Are amazing.
« - Money flows freely here now. - I do love that money, Sir. »

If I was able to perform a comparison only with the 4K Ultra HD, no doubt this UHD Dolby Vision transfer buffs the twilight photo of Mexican Rodrigo Prieto (Wall Street Wolf, Passengers, Barbie) despite suffering encoding in places (a bitrate in the low mean of 50 Mb/s). It must be said that, with 206 minutes on the counter, two discs would not have been too much (here an encoding on a 100 GB disc).
The silver texture is naturally resolved (an anamorphic capture 35 mm), the images are clear and detailed up to the background (a boon to admire the sumptuous reconstitution of the 1920s), the slightly desaturated colorimetric palette is beautifully nuanced, the contrasts have an impressive density (the shadows have a lot to tell) and the light sources show special attention in the light dark (an average luminance of 163 cd/m2 with peaks at 1000 nits).
Unfortunately, it is necessary to sit on the Dolby Atmos mixing Apple TV+, this relatively intimate DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack remains no less efficient.
Provided with a striking and rhythmic dynamic by the lancinating music funeral of fire Robbie Robertson (who grew up on a reserve in Ontario), she puts dialogue at the forefront without neglecting the environmental atmospheres (wildlife, thunder, rain) and other human-caused effects (road traffic, gunshots) whose spatialization is being used wisely. Even if punished in its corner (it is only rarely requested in view of the subject), the LFE channel is occasionally noticed.
Black as the oil and the hearts of men, this western political and memorial on the silent disaster of the Osages is already a classic whose provision of an Italian 4K Ultra HD (the A/V services are thirsty for conquest) is an opportunity not to miss especially for all lovers of physical support. The hour of redemption rang!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
