Available on Disney+ since 8 June, the series Miss Marvel interested in the adventures of young Muslim Kamala Khan andntends well to take over from a certain Peter Parker. This is the bet that the creator Bisha K. Ali (writer of certain episodes of Loki) with handles Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directors of Bad Boys for Life.

Great powers...

Great admirer / fan of Captain MarvelKamala Khan is a young Muslim who lives in Jersey City. A teenager excluded by his schoolmates as by his own family, Kamala does not have an easy life. She is also too busy organizing the marriage of her grandfather. But by tidying her attic, she'll find a curious bracelet that will reveal her superpowers.

It is this event that will attract the attention of one of the branches of SHIELD, the Damage Control, an organization specialized in collecting and archiving alien and exotic artifacts. Miss Marvel will also attract the lightnings of a criminal squad, determined to recover the famous bracelet.

... involve small responsibilities!

If on the paper the story has absolutely nothing original, it is indeed thanks to his young heroine, funny and truly endearing, that this series scores points. Full of joy but sometimes caught up in the sadness and sorrows of young people, Kamala remains a teenager... so wait for the ever-ending arguments with her mother, the crush with the beautiful kid of high school or the rivalry with the prom queen. By the way, actress Iman Vellani is the revelation of the series, just as Tom Holland was for the latest version of Spider-Man.

« I'm gonna have to figure out my whole future before lunch? Because... »

Apart from her fangirl becoming a superhero, Miss Marvel is beautifully photographed. The neighbourhood in which it operates is barred with colours, far from the buildings of the Avengers. As for the two directors, they had the right idea not to represent the Muslim religion according to the clichés shared by a certain part of the American population, particularly in the wake of the events of September 11, 2001.

Despite the special effects of pain (a recurring problem on recent MCU productions) and a last straight line where the blow falls (a simple race-continuation in the corridors of a high school), this introduction to the future film The Marvels (stay until the end of the final credits) announced on February 15, 2023 in France, breathes the good mood. And in times, it feels good.

Biberned very early at the cinema, I swallowed film like others green berets at breakfast! Curious of everything and today casanier in the soul, it is in the sweet atmosphere of the home that I quench my thirst without limit of 7th art.
