WORK – Feminist asset
Carol Danvers will become one of the most powerful superheroes in the universe when the Earth reveals itself to be at stake in a galactic war between two alien races.
Despite a lazy staging and classic architecture, this blockbuster post #metoo faithful to the Marvel style is an effective retro adventure to the atmosphere typical of the 90s, where the dynamic between inspiring Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, perfectly rejuvenated for the occasion, has stopped boosting the story. An entertaining and feminist, this funny and spectacular SF production is a solid presentation by Carol Danvers, alias Captain Marvel.
IMAGE – The look of 80!
More bright (on the façade) but so less well contrasted and colorful, the images of the HD transfer are replaced by this 4K Ultra HD.
For if the piqué is at best firmer (see close-up), it is well on the side of contrasts, much more balanced (whites are no longer grey and blacks are much better measured), of the colorimetric palette, otherwise wider (blue, green and orange shades are more vibrant), and light sources, better trimmed (more details in the brightest corners of the frame) and significantly more intense (fluorescent lighting, daylight, reflections on metallic textures), that differences are played.
SON – Playing with the Boys
Rhythmed by the pop/rock standards of the 1990s, this soundtrack with a wide soundscape (the surround scene is very present) has no energy (the dynamics are there!) or bass (which regularly remember our good memory)... At least in VO, since the VF has no amplitude, everything being mixed at the same level.
What is more, it would be a shame to ignore the vertical dimension of mixing that impresses during the action scenes (falls of debris, overflights of heroin, blaster shooting ricochets) but not that (spaceships that travel the Galaxy).
CONCLUSION – Tutowing the stars...
To be up to the most powerful hero of the MCU, it is an Ultra HD Blu-ray that you will have to insert into the player!
