WORK – The blades of revenge
The tyrannical Lord Cromwell is ready to do anything to conquer the kingdom of Ehdan, even to resort to black magic. With the support of demonic sorcerer Xusia de Delos, he succeeded in destroying his enemies and neutralizing King Richard and his family. Only his son Talon managed to escape the massacre. Eleven years later, the young man, who became a formidable warrior, returned to the kingdom where a plot against Cromwell was being prepared...
Horse ride between Excalibur and Conan the barbaric, this adventure of inventive and leaping fantasy that evokes the swashbuckler dsantan picks us with its communicative energy (a sustained rhythm) and astonishes us by its ruptures of tone (between adult savagery and childish humour). Badly broke (without it appearing on the screen) but provided with a true old charm, this series B bleached by Albert Pyun (the western post-apo Cyborg) remains most pleasant to follow.

This UHD Dolby Vision transfer, which comes from a new 4K scan of 35 mm negatives, is certainly not flattering (a variable pique, a lot of smoke, a strong granulation of origin and moderate lighting), is no less respectful of the twilight photography signed Joseph Mangine.
The image has been carefully cleaned, the fluctuating grain (stock-shots, low-quality film and composite designs) is returned with confidence, the very soft details sometimes display with the greatest possible sharpness (cf. baroque costumes and decors), the colorimetric palette with shimmering tints has been provided with a warmer calibration at the reinforced primary (starting with the red filter during the battle at the wedding), the contrasts are firmer than ever (dense blacks that allow the shadows of the dark and other glaucous undergrounds to breathe), the light sources such as gilding (the wedding dress) are illustrated by an increased radiance (reflections on the metals and sweaty bodies, the light of the day, the torches, the magic glow on the sorcer's fingers) and the compression resists all along to the ambient mist.
SON – To death usurpator!
An English (re)mix 5.1 with stifled noise, limited spatialization and artificial surround effects, which only benefits from the partition of David Whitaker since delivered with more magnitude than on the stereo soundtrack.
More attractive despite the damage inherent in the quality of the source (definitely damaged), the English soundtrack 2.0 is much more dynamic in addition to reviving the atmosphere. And while it is true that the sharps are sometimes aggressive and the music not always precise, the dialogues are clear and do not suffer any distortion.
Less clean (of the breath) and more wasteful (of the serious in retreat) than its stereophonic conœur, the VF is nevertheless supported by a dubbing with the old very tasty.
CONCLUSION – The Conan Wish?
A valiant athletic hero, villains not beautiful Machiavellics, a princess with harmonious captive curves, black magic and a kingdom to conquer, for pure sword and witchy juice where the spirit of the Great Adventure blows stronger in 4K Ultra HD!
