WORK – The origin of the myth
Whoever becomes a famous murderer, then a teenager, escapes from a psychiatric hospital with three other patients. Together, they kidnap a young nurse and make her live hell.
Despite an unfortunate intrigue a little futile (with on the way an attempt at empathic portrait of the dangerous psychopath in the process) where events are chaining at high speed V, this bloody and deviant road-movy that returns to the origins of the killer of Massacre with chainsaw none the less one of the best « Follow-up » original 1974 thanks to a neat setting and real shock scenes.
IMAGE – Blue, bleeding or point?
Provided with much more awake lighting (lights seem to be extinguished on the Blu-ray), otherwise more dynamic contrasts, much stronger colours (cf. the primary ones) and much sharper details (a hair too sometimes), this neat 4K transfer (supervised by the directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury) does justice to the delicately patinated aesthetic bias of photography in addition to detonating the frontal violence of the work.
SON – Sowing death and terror
Once the volume is bigger than usual, this balanced and surprisingly undemonstrative soundtrack (the bass do not excite too much) favours the envelope created by the atmospheres rather than the fergue of the effects (except when the chainsaw intervenes in the narrative).
