WORK – Justice belongs to him
Followed by members of a Mexican cartel, a mother and her son cross the border between Mexico and Arizona and find themselves on the land of Jim Hanson. Aigri, ageing, he traditionally denounces illegal immigrants to the authorities. But when the mother is killed in a shooting, the American recalcitrant decides to help the young Miguel escape. The widowed and disillusioned war veteran and the orphan boy will have to cross the United States, prosecuted by corrupt criminals and policemen.
Playing it Clint Eastwood, the aging but still imposing Liam Neeson leads us across the United States in this road movie firmly executed but generic where the action scenes, distilled from there (because it is the heart and not the fists that motorize this trip), have some in the belly. Squared and taking even if all-out.
IMAGE – Across the border
Very nicely photographed, this digitally captured image offers a first-order HD transfer (no default encoding to report) that displays an impressive definition, ultra-revelator details, clarity of every moment, healthy colors (blue sky and vegetation are brilliant), and a perfectly balanced contrast rate where the richness of blacks and the purity of whites are at the rendezvous.
SON – A mother's plea
Efficacy but little impacting (the shots lack depth), here is an immersive soundtrack that does not miss any opportunity to exploit the atmospheres (such as wind and insects) of the great spaces crossed by our disillusioned hero. In both VO and VF, the dialogues that are returned with what needs clarity are well incorporated into the rest of the mix.
CONCLUSION – Too late to turn around?
Since papy Neeson continues to make resistance, as well as equip accordingly (the Blu-ray holds the great shape) to face the Mexican cartel... And yes, the time of retirement has not yet come!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
