WORK – No, but say, is it good or not?
Based on a true story, Le Mans 66 reports the incredible human and sporting adventure that led American visionary car engineer Caroll Shelby to team up with the gifted British racer Ken Miles. Braving the established order, defying the laws of physics and fighting against their own demons, the two men had only one goal: to build on behalf of Ford Motor Company a revolutionary car capable of overthrowing the supremacy of Enzo Ferrari's stable on the legendary 24 hour circuit of Le Mans in 1966...
If it is (rightly) slow at ignition to set the context and present the characters, this motorsport biopic in line with the Rush quickly found its cruising speed. Human adventure above all (the relationship between the visionary Carroll Shelby and his outstanding driver Ken Miles) filmed at the height of man, he shows an undeniable know-how (elegant staging, energetic editing, haunting narrative, rope interpretation and grey racing) to chain the laps of the track without a drop in speed. A great success « Old » Hey!
IMAGE – Everyone's beautiful, are you sure?
Cleanly more organic in its rendering, with the grain added in post-prod coming out much more clearly without invading the frame, this UHD HDR10 transfer to the titanium compression has stopped flattering the retina.
The plans gain in clarity (see the intro covered with mist in POV), the definition is even more precise, the levels of detail are significantly improved (faces, outfits, decorations, vehicles), the colors benefit from increased saturation (blue sky, red paints) and from a natural found (carnation), the contrasts are well enriched (the characters no longer disappear in the dark) and the light sources are more illuminating than ever (reflections on chromed bodywork, daylight, sunset, night lighting).
To make it simple, the image is amazing!
SON – He who has ears to hear, hear!
Awarded for the Oscar for the best sound editing, the VO Dolby Atmos is the best acoustic proposal available in 4K Ultra HD !!!
Using its verticality as soon as necessary (the throttle of the engines, the voice of the presenters, the overflight of a car, the passage of an airplane, explosions, rain, thunder) while engaging all the horizontal speakers with a very incredible directivity (spaceization is fabulous), it also benefits from an ultra-sportive dynamic, a large score, always audible voices and phenomenal basses (mechanical roaring).
Very demonstrative at its height, however, the VF leaves us simple spectators where his English friend, who manages to climb more easily in the towers, embarks us alongside the pilots; And believe me, the emotions and sensations are multiplied. It's a mess!
CONCLUSION – Every good thing has an end...
To enjoy this elegy of the racing car, heat the engines with the ultra HD Blu-ray the fastest support!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
