WORK – The beauty is the beast
Geum-ja gets a remission of sentence after serving 13 years of detention. The woman who obtained early release for her admirable and exemplary conduct in prison suddenly turns her back on all those who helped her get out. It is consumed by hatred and remorse. She now dedicates her entire existence to the relaxation of her vengeance against a mysterious teacher.
Sublime tragedy in search of a lost humanity, this last part of theTrilogy of vengeanceto the ever-renewed emotional power and baroque staging wants to atone for its sins once the angel of anger has passed! Ultimately, redemption cannot be achieved by a personal vendetta.
IMAGE – Black beauty
Two rooms, two atmospheres... This is reflected in the comparison between this 4K Ultra HD and the previous Blu-ray released by HK Video on May 02, 2012. Coming from a 4K scan sent by South Korea, this UHD Dolby Vision (or HDR10+ based on your equipment) transfer approved by the production company CJ Entertainment today has a more suitable look with the work than it does. « Prepare ».
Bloody and no longer malady, the very well-resolved image benefits from a much warmer colorimetric palette (the green filter of master 1080p is no longer) to the more intense primary (especially red), contrasts more « hard » (the matt black left room for an absolute black) and ultra-bright light sources.
A little more detailed and revealing for the first time at home its real silver texture 35 mm (perhaps a little too pronounced during flashbacks and night watch-apens), shamefully erased until then, the highly filmic aspect of photography finally finds its superb... If this is the presence of tingling in the background in a few under-lit sequences.
SON – Group therapy
Little focused on dynamics (the subject hardly lends itself to it) but populated by atmospheric atmospheres, this mix encoded in DTS-HD MA 5.1 delivers clear dialogues (and a voice off), perfectly localized sounds and music, with virtuoso violins, expressly open.
