Kalidor: The Legend of the Talisman (Red Sonja), is not Conan who wants

Made from a new 4K/16-bit scan developed from the 35 mm negative by Picture Shop LLC in the United States, this restoration « epic » who asked the Hiventy laboratory about 150 hours of work is presented to us in Dolby Vision (HDR10 with some choma worries for the unequipped).

The image is clearly superior to its HD counterpart and carefully cleaned (with few petals near), it enjoys a remarkable definition (even if the softest plans remain), a nice management of the silver grain, very clearly increased details (backgrounds gain in precision and close-up in finesse), more strong contrasts (blacks are denser and the « White » increased) and a more conquering brightness (if this is the bridal parade in iron crossing mode which is more twilight than in the past) where the high luminances, such as the radiance of the talisman or the heat of the flames, shine with a bright shine. Yet something is wrong...

Unreasonably modernized, the colorimetric palette has a soaring appearance (not literally green as one of our colleagues mentioned) mixed with yellow that bears the foot of the Hiventy laboratory. And if it is true that this new calibration (discussable at all possible) adds exotism to a photograph that needed it (understand that it was dull and lifeless), starting with primaries that now show a much more generous vibrance, it is a disrespectful party of artistic choices of the time. It's up to you now to see if this rather attractive proposal, once launched, can be a purchase brake.

SON – I have nothing against man.

Remixing point here since the previous Blu-ray had the same soundtracks (if this is a 24-bit encoding for the VO). So we end up with an unspectacular soundtrack where surround activity is only episodic (a very discreet atmosphere of that) and the missing magnitude. Fortunately, the risible and enchanting music dialogues signed Ennio Morricone remain of great clarity (despite more caverrous voices in VF).

CONCLUSION – It's not Conan who wants

Helped in his quest by a Kalidor who lost his first identity for rights issues, Sonia the redhead is determined to settle her account to the evil Gedren... Leave to change his face (see the visual of the steelbook) and change the colors of his wardrobe!
