Baroud honours in Italy (with the pictures in the suitcase) for the prolo vigilante devoted to the cause of good (the phlegmatic Denzel Washington continues to wear the costume) which this time will take it to the Neapolitan Camorra alongside Dakota Fanning, almost 20 years later Man on Fire.
More posed than his predecessors to better consider the moral quest for his antihero (more vulnerable today) coveting calm, this polar with skillful script (a certain mystery endures until the last minutes) hugs the melo without sacrificing the relentless violence (even if more nuanced than in the past) that made the reputation of frankness.
Less spectacular therefore (kills convoke the slasher and not the actioner) but more human, this third opus (and normally last) to the adroit staging (where the overbidding is not the trip in contrast to the Catholic iconography) avenges us from the disappointing race Equalizer 2.
IMAGE - Where it should be
Resulting from a 4.6K digital shooting (Arri Alexa 35), this sublime and very solid UHD Dolby Vision transfer (no compressive anomaly for an average bitrate measured at 60.9 Mb/s) does justice to the photo deliberately tristounette (no sun tint) « Traditional » to Italian landscapes) Robert Richardson (Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood).
The definition is unshakeable (the rare softer planes are due to the source), the details are even sharper than in HD (the close-ups on the faces, the architecture of the small alleys of Atrania), the cold and desaturated colorimetric palette (except for rare luxuriant shades such as the scarlet red of the blood, the turquoise blue of the sea and the chlorophyll green of the plants) manifests an increased depth (a carnation that is always pale but much more natural), the opacity of the shadows is intensified by denser blacks and the light sources, affectionating especially to attack the absolute darkness of the places (by public lighting and the headlights of the vehicles), are not more vivid than on the Blu-ray (an average luminance of 333 cd/m2 with peaks at 1057 nitrites).

Surprisingly nuanced (the atmosphere predominates on the pyrotechnic effects) and preferring to use a moderate soundscape (a calming discretion at all) where road traffic and crowd chatter animates the rear, this soundtrack Dolby Atmos (assigned to the VO alone) nevertheless imposes it as soon as the action (dry and brutal) and the score of Marcelo Zarvos This is thanks to a carried dynamic and basses at the proven punch (cf. the brutality of the beatings during the torture of Carabinieri). The dialogues are of great clarity and the aerial scene has the merit of existence (for the song of birds, the rain and the breath of an explosion).
Ample and well distributed over the five channels, the DTS-HD MA VF with careful dubbing (in addition to being ideally integrated into the original mixing) is as good as its 3D consoeur.

Final part of the action trilogyAntoine Fuqua, this twilight western rital sees the convalescence of its vigilance enhanced by a particularly well armed 4K Ultra HD (A/V services in full shape) !
