Still deeply marked by the trauma he experienced, child, at the Overlook Hotel, Dan Torrance had to fight to try to find a semblance of serenity. But when he meets Abra, a courageous teenager with extrasensory gifts, he will have to face his fears and awaken the ghosts of the past to confront the tribe of the True Node...
Risky suite but how successful of Shining, this exciting adaptation of the book of the same name is a fantastic thriller perfectly controlled where is played a haunting counter-watch. And yes, the « Shining » shine again!
Deep plunged into the darkness, the beautiful photography « vintage » of the work (see colour calibration) is not suitable for demonstration.
Moreover, even if the contrasts become more consistent (blacks have been enriched), the vivacity of the lighting and the saturation of the colors are barely improved (a bit more shade) compared to the HD transfer. But rest assured, captured in 6.5k, the images are more chiseled here (without being too sharp).
Atmospherical as desired, the Atmos soundtrack is ventilated with the utmost care. Rich in acoustic details (the height scene is filled with ambiences) and particularly intense (large climbs in power) when anguish and/or action enter the dance, she does not hesitate to use an out-of-field of the living.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 VF is neither natural nor immersive (dubbing integration).
As royal as the Overlook Hotel, this edition Ultra HD Blu-ray reserves a « Further » Kubrickian prepared with the utmost care! Nevertheless, the room service could have added the Directors Cut differently than on the Blu-ray.
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia

[...] Doctor Sleep therefore, a film that takes his time (there is also a long version, it seems), poses his intrigue, searches his characters to offer us an adult Danny (Ewan McGregor), struggling to remain sober (sense that King knows only too well since between 1978 and 1986 he was addicted to hard drugs and alcohol !). Unfortunately for poor Danny, a series of « vampires » crossed his path, determined to suck his shining (his ability as a medium). Very unequal, he has the audacity to attack the King at the root and try a captivated rereading of Shining (or a mercantile resucée, that's according to the point of view). Too clean, Doctor Sleep, however, is not without interest, and if one were to draw a flanagian quality that would be useful to him for an adaptation of The Dark Tower, it is perhaps his ability to dig into the Kingian myth in depth and manage to carry on the screen a wide gallery of characters... Indispensable quality since, in addition to Roland, the Dark Tower involves a large number of protagonists: its ka-tet (its community, to define the term hastily), a good tripotée of allies and just as much antagonists, many characters of the past as well...
