WORK – Organized crime and ancestral katana
A boss of the crime is murdered in cold blood and his only heir is sent abroad while he is just an infant. Twenty years later, rival gangs are trying to kill this young woman who discovers that she was born at the head of a crime union. Fighting for her life, she teamed up with an American who was trying to discover her own past...
Adapted from Brazilian graphic novel Samurai Shiro, this visually striking but emotionally distancing polar action (while the characters have a mouth) is an ultra-modern update of Japanese gangster films taking place in an exciting setting. The style is there, the violence too, and there's really no shortage of armed games... Yet, false rhythm obliges (history shoots in length), tension deflates several times. Despite this « sabotage », the work deserves a look.

Bathed with a neo-black atmosphere with vaporous fluorescent lights and bright colours, this comic book image is divinely reproduced by this superb UHD Dolby Vision transfer.
The copy is immaculate, the lights are even more flamboyant (cf. the light beams during the cemetery sequence), the surgical bite (its HD counterpart is much less detailed), the blinking digital aspect, the colorimetric palette regularly unreal (the red and green shades, ubiquitous, are better saturated) and the mescually reinforced contrasts (black and white). « mystics »).
SOUND – Karaoke Ivre
Rhythmed by a galvanizing electro partition coupled with sounds from the shamisen, this spectacular soundtrack shows immersive spatialization and a very beautiful dynamic when the action starts. The dialogues are clear, the frontal opening is wide, the multichannel distribution is effective (including the verticality of the sound) and the serious energetics.
CONCLUSION – Die the sliced jugular?
Ready to fight against the Japanese mafia, this 4K Ultra HD enters the war not without proper armament!
