It is brought to the attention of our dear readers as well as the viewing equipment specified and used by each tester of the MaG team, the rendering may differ from one installation to another, whether or not it is calibrated, as well as personal preferences and expectations may influence the rating. WORK – The truth is elsewhere

Arthur Bretnik, a private detective with an unstable character, is hired to investigate a suspicious death in the city of Wander. He will soon be convinced that this case is linked to the death of his daughter. More and more paranoid, Arthur's mental health is tested when he tries to clarify the facts of fiction and solve the case, while wondering if he is a pawn in a much more dangerous game.

Well tied and interpreted, this strange paranoid thriller « mistreated » by the disorientation of his anti-hero plottist (several scenes are zapped before being revealed long minutes later) too quickly lifts the veil of mystery and abuses explanations (especially at the very end during many twists) where the border between fantasy and reality should have remained. And it's a shame since the desolate village (filmed in New Mexico) that serves as a place to investigate is rich in suspense and tension...

IMAGE – Wander, the city « where it is not good to live »

Close to perfection, this HD transfer delivers a very good rendering respecting the artistic will of the work.

Captured in digital, the image that is clean and sharp proves excellent thanks to an exemplary definition, details of great precision (suits and decorations), superb natural colors and contrasts to the beautiful richness (cf. the density of blacks and the brightness of whites).

SOUND – Living with the Mental Fog

While the rear scene is rarely requested, the effects are not present and the bass are in retreat, the subject does not lend itself to it, this mix with the finesse of all the moments distributes well distributed atmospheres, clear voices and a wide score while activating the dynamics (surprisingly powerful) during the most « spectacular ».

For obvious artistic reasons (interpretation of the actors), the VO is to be preferred over the least precise and intense VF (even if the French dubbing is of quality).

CONCLUSION – Is there a conspiracy?

Defenders of a conspiracy theory, welcome Wander !. And for those unable to move, this Blu-ray is an option to seriously consider.

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
