WORK – Trapped in the Cold War
1960. Modest representative of English trade, Greville Wynne finds herself immersed in the cold war. At the request of MI-6 and the CIA, he formed a secret and perilous alliance with Soviet Colonel Oleg Penkovsky. Objective: to provide the information necessary for Westerners to avoid a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban missile crisis. He then started a series of round trips between London and Moscow taking more and more risks...
Consecrated to a hero of shadow, this classic espionage film takes us away by the strength of his interpretation, the strength of his suspense, the beauty of his reconstruction and the warmth of his friendship story. In short, an old-fashioned thriller.
IMAGE – The austere beauty of Russia
From the softness of his pique to the bristle of his colorimetric palette, this UHD HDR10 transfer magnifies the vintage aspect of the photograph (type 60s) signed by the Ops chef Sean Bobbitt.
The definition is reinforced (DI 4K obliges), the refined details (faces, costumes, decors), the beautified cold calibration (cf. shades of grey), the better managed contrasts (upholstered whites and less washed blacks) and the more authentic felted lighting (sometimes even bluffs) (inner lamps).
SON – Do not arouse suspicion
Clear and well balanced, this soundtrack filled with multilingual dialogues plays the map of the atmospheres (spaced with realism) and not of the power (there is not the subject) without abandoning the dynamics (excellent).
CONCLUSION – An unlikely friendship
Debunked by the MI6 and the CIA in the middle of the Cold War, this 4K Ultra HD that has been able to decline the possibility of saving the West has much more skills than we grow!
