WORK – Memory of my father

1917. Bakary Diallo joined the French army to join her 17-year-old son Thierno, who was forcibly recruited. Sent to the front, father and son will have to face war together. Galvanized by the passion of his officer who wants to lead him to the heart of the battle, Thierno will stow and learn to become a man, while Bakary will do everything to tear him out of the fighting and bring him back safe and sound.

Even if demagogic and too wise (the hell of war is here sweetened), this great family drama with an intimate frame carries an essential look at history. The reconstitution is remarkable, the actors involved (a Omar Sy more serious than ever) and staging « tight » sticks as close as possible to the characters. Full of humanity and humble, this tribute to heroes « forgotten » Just aim.

IMAGE – Throwing on the forehead

Not a shadow of an artifact (while smoke and particles in the air abound) with this transfer 1080p that does not call any reserve and displays a somewhat raw image (a slightly granular texture) to the upper definition, the stunning sting, the natural colorimetric palette and the (many) perfectly contrasting night passages where the blacks are superb.

SON – Promises not held

A multi-channel soundtrack that obviously captures the lion's share (the stereo 2.0 track not having the same ability to plunge us into the heart of the action) with effective spatialization, devastating acoustic effects, a powerful musical atmosphere (a sensitive score signed by Alexandre Desplat) and dialogues (mainly in peul) transcribed with perfect clarity. And while the LFE channel sometimes lacks enthusiasm, it is not loose on the battlefield.

CONCLUSION – Falling for France

Beautiful memorial to the Senegalese tirailers, this war film to the height of men is to possess in Blu-ray (very successful A/V performances) to never forget. Dismiss the ranks!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
