WORK – Tracking and revenge

1825, in Australia under English domination. After serving her sentence, Clare, a young Irish skier, will soon be able to live freely with her husband and baby. But her guardianship officer did not finish with her: roused and left for dead, Clare was helpless to witness the massacre of her family by British soldiers. When she woke up, on the brink of madness, she began to pursue them through the virgin lands of Tasmania. In this wild and isolated region, where the laws of men no longer apply, it will not retreat from anything to do justice.

Choking in many ways (cf. the rape scenes), this rape and revenge nightmaredesque and desperate quickly leaves the beaten paths of the 19th century Tasmania to turn to the historical fresco on the « conquest » of Australia. Demanding and violent as well as intelligent and sensitive, this plea for the preservation of cultures and land is a real cinema shock!

But while the piqué is generally sharp throughout the depth of field and the rather firm contrasts (cf. the density of blacks), the visual comfort is sometimes diminished by the appearance « night » Colour banding. If only compression had been stronger...

SON – The voice of the forest

Nanny of an atmospheric environment of great richness, this soundtrack which has stopped playing with the nerves of the viewer has convincing spatialization and a striking dynamic.

Less balanced, the VF delivers over-emphasized dubbing. So the atmospheres and the effects are « crushed » as soon as someone starts talking.
