Movie opening of the fantastic festival of Gérardmer, The Forbidden Play made the effect of a cold shower or grotesque prelude for who loves euphemisms. Signed Hideo Nakata, godfather of Japanese horror cinema to whom one owes the memorable Ring and Dark Water, the film betrays a ricket budget and an ambition that embraces the I-m-en-foutism. A great movie where one wonders if the director did not rather want to make a comedy... It's a hell of a mistake!
Henshin horror in paper chewed?
Naoto Ihara leads a life of good family father, a happy looking man, who tinkers on Sundays while his wife takes advantage of the garden and their son, little Haruto, tries to hunt lizards. As a trophy, he brings back to his father the tail of the mutilated reptile. Naoto makes him believe that by burying this stump and praying daily Elohim, the lizard will push back at the end of the amputated limb. Everything was fine in the best of the worlds until the day his wife died suddenly in an accident. Miraculated, Haruto begins to pray every day on a small pile of land where he buried his mother's finger...
From the introductory stage, one quickly feels the caricatural potential in the permanent auction, even frying the autoparody. No luck, acting is no more convincing and emotions go through a game of big eyes and grimaces supported to simulate fear, a revealing sign of a messy realization... As much as we look, very soon the trap of mediocrity closes on The Forbidden Play. Despite its catchy synopsis based on divine regeneration, no one believes in it, not even the director (and even less the actors). Even Buffy against vampires had more convincing SFX, that is, how much they bleed our retinas. Regrettably, to be added to the list of The Forbidden Play, Hideo Nakata did not manage to limit the shock scenes to keep the suspense (and its budget). In short, let's not shoot more at the burning ambulance; Here are our images in video !

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia

Actors with eyes scarleted in permanent play, a scenario filled with dreadfully predictable absurdities, a television staging with dishonest kitsch and grotesque effects completely outmoded, haunt this J-Horror faltered about rabble where the few fearers find it difficult to manifest themselves in all this melody. No, this long-haired avenger is really not Sadako!
