WORK – Never become his boyfriend!
Melissa's family has moved to a small town in Texas, and the girl is quickly the object of all attention. However, all men, young or older, who approach her are victims of a crazy killer. Sheriff Dan Burke leads the investigation and soon discovers strange elements.
In a western setting, this forgotten slasher of the 80s stops the clichés of the genre to better play it criminal mystery (to the Agatha Christie) against the background of racial tensions (between Rednecks and Amerindians). The murders are therefore few and the gore incarcerated, but it is intrigue, rich in suspense, that leads the investigation until the disturbing final revelation. Captivating!
IMAGE – A small community in turmoil
Inconsequential from one plane to another (definition keeps fluctuating), this HD transfer that oscillates between the right (light scenes) and the mediocre (dark scenes) is generally too damaged (many dirt) to convince.
The extreme softness of some planes coincides with the precision of others, the clarity of the day gives way to the disorder of the night (inconstant greenish blacks) and the granular texture is so heavy sometimes that it can be difficult to distinguish the elements of the frame. The same applies to colours that lose their charm as soon as the darkness comes.
SON – Sweet Melissa ♪
Despite an occasional breath, the stereophonic VO sounds good. The dialogues are clear, the music finds the right balance with the atmospheres and the dynamics fills its office when the blade crashes its victims.
With additional noises (crickets) but suffering from catastrophic post-synchronization (suffocated and poorly connected to the lips) and invasive parasitic breath, VF is not able to properly study the facts.
CONCLUSION – Go or stay?
If Melissa is going to celebrate her 16th birthday, it's this year that this movie « lost » celebrates his 40th birthday!
