WORK – Alice at the Devil's Ball

Suzy, a young American, arrives in Fribourg to attend courses in a prestigious dance academy. The general atmosphere in the school surprises the girl, it is a strange and disturbing atmosphere. Then it turns into a nightmare when terrible accidents occur: a young student is murdered, a blind pianist is killed by his own dog... Suzy is also often sick. She learns that the academy was once the home of a terrible witch called the Mother of Sighs. What if the school was still under his control?

Classic of the giallo, this witch tale located in a nightmare Germany is an anxiogenic and baroque horror film besieged at the extreme (a bariole explosion), where the descent to hell experienced by Suzy Bannion is dotted with murders to the gore violence. More than 40 years after his release, this Alice in Wonderland plunged into a dream theatre of evil, a masterpiece by Dario Argento, remains a unique sensory experience.

IMAGE – Deep in Hell

As the photograph reconstructs a color expressionism, this 4K Ultra HD edition was expected at the turn... and the result is more than exciting. Already fabulous in Blu-ray, this 4K restoration from the original Italian 35 mm negative (so neither cut nor censored) with color correction supervised and approved by the chef op

The work on compression is of the highest order, the silver grain is even thinner and more delicate, the details are clearer (faces, clothes and decors), the contrasts are more natural (the brightness of the HD transfer has been lowered a little too much) and the lighting benefits from a new realism until then (cf. lamps adorned in the halls of the academy and reflections on furniture).

As for the colorimetric palette, the star of the work, it is full of even more intense primaries. The red, blue, green and yellow hues are thus more lively and nuanced.

SON – The Rail of Darkness

A fantastic Atmos track that brings a new dimension to the original mixing. Very impressive and mercilessly aggressive, she uses all channels generously to create an obsessive symphony of noises fuelled by a rather dizzying dynamic.

The voices (light), the effects and the atmosphere move in the acoustic space precisely, the score of the Italian progressive rock group Goblin travels the sound scene for maximum wrapping, the surround speakers are not there to make figurative, the aerial component (assiduous) adds realism to the different events (rain, lightning, glass ceiling, music and many other things) and the basses are effectively used.

CONCLUSION – Let the Mother sacrifice you!

If the black magic classes try you more than learning to dance, no matter how demonic it may be, no doubt you will fall under the grip of this 4K Ultra HD, pure Charms extract obliges!

Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
