WORK – The terrible children of the 93
France, in the early 1990s, as increasingly violent clashes between the police and the suburbs rage, some choose hip-hop as an expression of their revolt. Two young people from Seine-Saint-Denis, JoeyStarr and Kool Shen quickly became the spokesmen of an entire generation. It is the birth of rap, the birth of a group: Supreme NTM.
Adoubted by the Supreme NTM in person, this feverish biopic on their debut escapes the clichés on the suburbs and manifests a communicative fergue. Far from the easy overbidding and flowing from the intimate (the relationship JoeyStarr had with his father) to the spectacular (the hot concerts), this essential page of the French hip-hop (where the societal dimension is unfortunately only touched) is written by two young performers (with incandescent charisma) who give themselves in full. Two Stars is Born!
IMAGE – From the street to the Zenith
Full of contrast (the night scenes are superb) and colors (the projectors on stage, the orange reverbera of the neighborhood), this image with the careful definition and the preserved details plunges us into the atmosphere of the beginning of the 90s (d « dated ») even if it can happen to the compression to flex a little (from the colour banding and some tingling of this one).
SON – The urgent need to express
Rhythmed by NTM songs (mostly from the album) Authentik) and the music of Cut Killer, this energetic soundtrack (the dynamic rises sharply during the concerts) where the microphones « spit » and the crowds are blinding (both at the front and at the back) ensures the show not without choking the restitution of its voices.
CONCLUSION – Is the fever there?
Coming back to the fire, the French rap group NTM whose texts evoke social inequalities resumes the fight in Blu-ray!
