WORK – The « monster » come from the depths
1984. Arctic Circle. Located 12,000 metres below the Earth's surface, Kola's drilling is the largest secret laboratory in the USSR. A few months after its opening, scientists record voices and screams of unknown origin, coming from the depths. The laboratory is then closed and a research team is sent urgently to discover what lies at the bottom of the deepest drilling on Earth...
In camera horrific survival inspired by the myth of the Forage sg3, Superdeep down to the classic The Thing without ever being able to reach it. For if the body horror pieces are rather successful (maquillages + prosthetics), the glaucous atmosphere at will and the ubiquitous tension, the scenario that tends to shoot on the rope abuse of the exhibition scenes (the budget for the action had to be insufficient), does not suffocate on the unlikely and causes the members of a very unattractive group to die one by one.
IMAGE – Biological horrator
Quite spectacular to a few coumacs (light traces of compression during the rare shots at CGI), this UHD HDR10 transfer plunges us into the heart of horror... coming from the depths of the earth!
The details more or less craspecs come out better (you won't miss anything from the powdery texture of the mould), the colorimetric palette with generally discreet hues is more nuanced and makes the most of the most vibrant colors (such as yellow protection combinations), the deliberately blinking contrasts are even more intense (the attack on the infirmary is a good example) with black ink (unlit corridors do not allow light to pass) and pure whites (snow), and the light sources benefit from a radiance that imposes more (including red electric lamps).
SON – Under the ground, no one hears you screaming
Almost entirely in the confined space of an underground laboratory, this immersive soundtrack was designed to create a constant sense of claustrophobia where it is easy to feel vulnerable.
All the speakers are fully used, the dynamic stresses « Action » and « Fear » very efficiently, the environmental atmospheres really give the impression of being locked up, the functional score is very wide and the low frequencies add a lot of impact to many passages. Had the original Dolby Atmos mixing been proposed, no doubt the hearing experience would have been even more impressive. In this sense, activate one of the 3D DSPs of your sound system is highly recommended.
But if the dialogues are clear, the post-synchronization of the second roles is really missed!
CONCLUSION – Not The Thing Who wants!
Not super deep, this B series that should have dug again to succeed its « tribute » the above-mentioned masterpiece and the videoludic saga Dead Space Nevertheless arrives at the surface within a 4K Ultra HD with solid A/V features!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia

I think they should have called the movie "Supercheap"! 🙂
Not necessarily no. 😉
I'm kidding! Whatever...
If I am not mistaken, the dialogues are native to English.
Otherwise, unfortunately, the concept of "fungal contamination" is very interesting but its treatment in this film is cruelly lacking boldness and depth.
Natively in English yes but very clearly (mal) post-synchronized for the second roles.
Yes well far from getting to the ankle of the very great classic carpenter thing
Sure.
