Split into 2 parts, the 4th season of the retro hit 80 Netflix arrived on 27 May on the platform. In total, 7 episodes of more than one hour each are available pending the last 2 on July 1st.
The Breakfast Club of the Dead
From the first notes of music in the cult credits, the smile appears on our faces. We are both happy to find our band so attached and worried to see how they will still be part of a story based on parallel world and viscous Demongorgons.
Six months have passed since the events of season 3 and the attack in the mall. The fine team is separated and normal life tries to regain its rights. But it is getting much more complex to manage for everyone. Many tensions appear due to the distance and the passage to high school: Mike and Dustin being part of a club Dongeons & Dragons are considered as pariahs (it should be noted that in the 1980s, the geeks were considered strange, even retarded), Lucas joined the basketball team and tried to make a place among the « Sports »Max has been away from everyone since his brother died. When to « Eleven », deprived of her powers and hidden away from Hawkins, she struggles like everything to integrate into a school environment that does not give her gifts, before Will witness this fury towards her. When in Joyce, the mother (Winona Ryder, still as sparkling), she continues to look for Jim Hopper (David Harbour in berserk mode), convinced that he is still alive and who will lead her to Russia.
It is in this atmosphere far from the innocence of previous episodes that the city of Hawkins is still at the heart of particularly violent attacks. Teenagers are found dead, bones broken and eyes torn. It does not take any more for the band to make the rapprochement with the upside, the world upside down. The perfect opportunity to go back to adventure for our troop of « Goonies »…
Divide to better rule
After a first episode (Hell Fire Club) which places the characters in their new environment hangover way, the creation of the Duffer Brothers rises by a step. Clearly influenced by Freddy Krueger's saga (shins eye to support) with a tip of Hellraiser and slasher, Stranger Things changes tone and is much more mature, darker and trash than usual. The attacks of « Vecna », the nemesis of this season, do not do in finesse, the awake nightmare atmosphere does not let us down all the way.
No more pop 80 atmosphere with its cosplays Ghostbusters, its arcade halls and shopping malls, here it's grey, we live in filthy mobile homes, we visit an abandoned house straight out of IT IS Stephen King's parents are distraught and the city is under curfew.
Divided into 3 acts (Hawkins/Nevada/Russia), the series definitely takes off through an episode 4 (Dear Billy) which will leave no respite to all this beautiful world. But it's the 7th (The massacre of the Hawkins laboratory) which is unavoidable. Because in addition to revealing an important part of the plot, this one openly quotes Akira, the timeless masterpiece of Katsuhiro Otomo, one of the characters strongly resembling Tetsuo, both in his behavior and in his actions.
Without revealing any more, the first part ends with many characters in bad posture and leaves us waiting for a second part which will have 2 episodes of a respective duration of 1h25 and 2h30.

A great final in perspective therefore, for a series of high quality that has managed to combine the nostalgia old school and the modernity of the tv shows today, as well as madeleine from Proust for the quadras that are unbeatable for the new generation.
