WORK – Two cousins' Mafia Daily
Philadelphia. Thirty years ago, Michael's family collected Peter on the death of his father in opaque circumstances. Today, Peter and Michael are two small, disliked criminals. One is as violent and exuberant as the other is taciturn. When Michael is designated as « troublesome » by the Italian mafia, the troubled past of the family reappears...
If there is nothing original (James Gray or Martin Scorsese went through it), this fatalist black polarist with authentic stylistic dryness and a story as tense as melancholy is a relentless family tragedy about emotional loyalty carried by an impressive Matthias Schoenaerts. Through the darkness of eyes, the weight of family ties (contraints?)!

Supported by a light grain (silver or not, difficult to know without knowing the material used during shooting) which accentuates the gravity of the plot, this inherently austere HD transfer that benefits from a beautiful definition restores details of great precision, (most often) cold colors neat and sustained contrasts without excess (blacks are superb).
SON – Out of mutism
For the sake of dramatization, mixing takes on the part of hair and lets itself be carried by the score « heavy » of Severin Favriau.
Little demonstrative if not when the protagonists make use of their weapons, the soundtrack that is centered on the front tracks is based on a felted atmosphere that the rear scene ditts from there.
CONCLUSION – The cycle of violence...
Powerful and modest, Sons of Philadelphia Allied with a Blu-ray that hides nothing of all its shades of black!
