Freely adapted from the play Sing by Edmond Rostand and directed in the 1990s by Don Bluth (Anastasia, Fievel and the New World), Rock-o-Rico is an animated movie that has rock in the skin!
Populated with delusional characters, rhythmic by memorable songs and gifted with fluid drawings, this tender tribute to Elvis Presley is a rock tales full of humor and music that, however charming it may be, was charmed at the stage... De facto, behind the cartoon that has lured a whole generation is a « concert », which it is easy to imagine as being less disillusioned and even more fanciful.
IMAGE – From farm to town
Weakened by the technical limitations of the source (several planes are blurred) and the presence of many dirt, this HD transfer is clearer and textured than its SD counterpart benefits from engaging colors to sparkling primary (voluntarily less during live action segments), significant brightness and solid blacks.
SON – It's rock on the farm!
Well defined and not percluses of any distortion, these soundtracks (in stereo 2.0) with pleasant effects and engaging soundtracks offer a well-instrumented listening experience where dialogues, songs (interpreted by Eddy Mitchell, Lio and Tom November in VF) and rock guitars share the star.
CONCLUSION – Holy sun?
Offered in France for the very first time in Blu-ray in a beautiful combo edition including four postcards drawn from the film, the most rock-roll cartoons will delight both young and old in high definition. Pull out the blues!
