WORK – Save the world in « color » Hey!
Long ago, in Kumandra's imaginary kingdom, humans and dragons lived in harmony. But one day an evil force fell upon the kingdom and the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. When this force reappeared five centuries later, Raya, a lonely warrior, began to search for the legendary last dragon to restore harmony on the land of Kumandra, within a now divided people. Starts for her a long journey in which she discovers that it will take much more than a dragon to save the world, and that trust and self-help will be essential to lead this perilous mission to success.
An ambitious family animated film, Raya and the Last Dragon is an epic action that is certainly lacking soul but which allows to escape in an imaginary country (inspired by South-East Asian folklore) visually very impressive. The story is entertaining, even so hasty, the characters are as endearing (the warrior princess in mind) as amusing, the action scenes are fantastic and the theme about the power of trust full of hope. A real treat for the whole family.

Luminous and detailed, the UHD HDR10 presentation surpasses the Blu-ray in many areas even though it is true that the improvement on the side of resolution remains minimal (a slight gain of sharpness). But this is not very serious in the end since the rendering of the HD transfer is already of exceptional clarity with a very appreciable film sensation (a little grain).
The colorimetric palette in part « depressed » The light sources are more audacious (the dragon stone, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources, the light sources and the light sources. « Rainfalls », fireworks, etc.).
SON – Mushu at least, he sang!
Once the volume is set accordingly (it's Disney what!) to become engaging (while accepting that low frequencies are not part of the trip), this soundtrack « Dolby Atmouse » will put you at the heart of the action.
The effects are on all sides, the surrounding canals (the desert swept by the wind, the street market) and the height (the rain, the threatening presence of the Druun) are regularly requested, and the score signed James Newton Howard is enveloping as possible.
A little less immersive, however, the unemphasized VFQ benefits from a stronger dynamic and deeper bass. It's not necessarily ultra-physical, but it's always wilder than in VO.
CONCLUSION – It's better for many!
Every fire like Sisu the dragon, this 59th « classic animation » Disney Studios is well treated by this 4K Ultra HD that will unfortunately remain new in our countries!
