WORK – A simple hair story?
When Flynn Rider, the most sought after bandit in the kingdom, takes refuge in a mysterious tower, he finds himself taken hostage by Raiponce, a beautiful and reckless young girl with impressive hair. She then makes an agreement with the attractive robber to see the outside world...
This initiatory narrative, which revisits the tale of the Grimm brothers with as much modernity (the tone) as with classicism (the superb old-fashioned graphics), is a permanent enchantment carried by colorful characters (the seductive villain who does not want to age, the beautiful impetuous princess, the selfish young bandit, the canasson « super-flic » and chameleon « bodyguard ») which combines humour, adventure, romance and songs with great success. Therefore, Raiponce is an animated film made in Disney that will appeal to the whole family and that finds the grace of the greatest classics of the studio with big ears.

The colorimetric palette is as rich as it is saturated, the definition is sublime, the contrasts are pushed and the compression is simply invisible. But it is also true that it was the same for the previous Blu-ray! Where are the improvements then?
The first one is to look for details, much finer (especially on the objects of the background) in 4K despite the appearance of (rare) flickering on some textures (such as background decors). The second is near the colors, showing a fortification of all the shades (the flowers are cooler and the clothes are brighter). The third is to be appreciated by observing the whites, much brighter, and the blacks, otherwise more precise during scenes taking place in low light. Finally, the fourth and final one reveals itself when the light sources, magnified in all circumstances (cf. the luminous hair of heroin), appear on the screen.
In short, here is a winning UHD HDR10 transfer that brings a lot of clarity and vitality to its HD counterpart.

Not affected by syndrome « Dolby Atmouse » If it is necessary to adjust the volume at the beginning of the session, this very precise and dynamic 3D soundtrack benefits from convincing spatialization (good support of the height scene), perfectly integrated dialogues, a powerful low-end (as when horses are galloping) and a score as enveloping as it is voluminous.
A little less expansive, the VF remains no less charming.
CONCLUSION – A horse, hair!
As wonderful as the kingdom of Corona, the present 4K Ultra HD didn't just have a dream!
