It is brought to the attention of our dear readers as well as the viewing equipment specified and used by each tester of the MaG team, the rendering may differ from one installation to another, whether or not it is calibrated, as well as personal preferences and expectations may influence the rating.
WORK – No, but say, is it good or not?
A series of spectacular robberies around the world endanger the balance of financial markets. Criminals operate as well on motorcycles in New York skyscrapers as well as on motorbikes. « wingsuits » to escape aircraft over the jungle. Johnny Utah, a former legend of the motocross that became FBI agent, will have to infiltrate the extreme sports group that is suspected of being the source of these skeptical robberies...
Closer to a clip on extreme sports than a polar about robberies, this remake perfectly anchored in its time and much more spectacular than its cult model can compete for lack of endearing characters and developed scenario. But here it is, it fills us with sight!
IMAGE – Everyone's beautiful, are you sure?
The details abound, the piqué is sharp, the colors are perfectly saturated and the contrasts ensure... Kind of like Blu-ray, right? Yes, but this UHD HDR10 transfer is otherwise more balanced!
The contrasts (blacks finally deep) as the (more demonstrative) lighting are improved there and above all, the colorimetric palette, much more varied, is less stylized (excesses of cyan and yellow have disappeared) for a much greater rendering « realistic » (now the snow is white) and homogeneous. On the resolution side, however, the differences remain accessory (a little more finesse in the background).
SON – He who has ears to hear, hear!
A bursting soundtrack that uses all the speakers to immerse us in the heart of the action. Effects, atmospheres (wind, waves), score and bass (solicited very effectively) are thus part of the party and are heard. And if the film was not mixed in Dolby Atmos when it was broadcast in the theaters, a 3D upgrade would have been welcome for its video release. In any case, the VO DTS-HD MA 7.1 does not disappoint.
Even if noisy as it should be, the VF is not as physically prepared (see dynamics) as its English-speaking colleague.
CONCLUSION – Every good thing has an end...
You don't have the taste for risk but extreme sports attract your attention? So take a look at this 4K Ultra HD competition that focuses on the qualities (action scenes and breathtaking landscapes) of this decoding B-series polar!
Nyctalope like Riddick and with a very good hearing, I am ready to jump on physical editions and SVOD platforms. But if the quality isn't on the rendezvous, stop at the bite! #WeLovePhysicalMedia
