WORK – Minor, a future job?
We are in 2078 on a small mining colony on planet Sirius 6B. For the past ten years, war has raged between the New Economic Bloc (NBE), and the Alliance of Minors, which was formed after radiation was detected in the Berinium mines. In retaliation for the miners' revolt, the NBE dropped atomic bombs on the population. In counter-attack, Alliance scientists created a new weapon: the Hurters.
Inspired by news from Philip K. Dick, Creeping planet is a small classic SF « DIY » (special effects have aged) with a striking post-industrial atmosphere (the scenery is impressive) and with a persistent smell of death (the tension is skillfully maintained).
IMAGE – Does planet Sirius 6B make you dream?
Captured in 35 mm and arriving in Blu-ray format 1.85:1, Creeping planet benefits from a master clean (no dust on the horizon) that uniformly restores the silver texture of the work (except for some fixed planes).
Compression does not weaken, the definition is generally excellent (if this is still there when the visual effects are in the frame), the colors are of great accuracy and solid contrasts (light whites and blacks as deep as detailed). A rediscovery!
SON – If you hear that noise, run!
Dynamic and wide, the multichannel soundtrack is still much more precise and better distributed (especially at the back) in VO.
More picked up at the front (dubbing takes on which is more than the rest of the mixing), the VF stifles atmospheres like music.
In both cases, the LFE channel is well used.
CONCLUSION – Evolution « natural »
If they have declared war on the human species, they should thank ESC Editions for presenting them to us in their best light!
