WORK - Looking for eternal youth

Without much improvement vis-à-vis the Blu-ray but finally resembling 4K (unlike the first three opus), this UHD HDR10 transfer to images a hair darker than those of its counterpart SDR benefits from a slight increase in details (cloths, facial hair, pores and wrinkles on faces, woodwork, rocks), a barely richer colorimetric space (the vegetation of the jungle, the blue sky) and vaguely brighter light sources (torches, lamp of the lighthouse, cotton clouds).
Unfortunately, the beautiful photo of Dariusz Wolski is shaken by a value of the blacks less well adjusted (they are insufficiently deep and show an abnormally misty darkness) and a hiccuping compression (color banding regularly invites on board). On the way, the smoothness of the scenes where Syrena appears in the frame is not a flaw but indeed an artistic will of Marshall and his team (a little DNR was applied in post-production).

Once inside but now on the reserve (the big show seems to be drowned), the VO this time proposed in mode « Dolby Atmouse » must endure fierce verticality, muzzled low frequencies and indigent dynamics.
Fortunately, the omnipresence of the rear scene, the clarity of the voices, the scale of the score signed Hans Zimmer and the realism of the effects (the boards grin, the waves splash and the wind whistle) persist.
The VF Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 is more decoupling at its height, even if it is far from being inflated to the block.

If the A/V performances of this 4K Ultra HD do not induce the expected youth cure to this 4th part of Jack Sparrow's misadventures, the image remains invigorating enough to restore its vitality and the sound deceitfully competent to continue to oxygenate. Retirement can wait...
